I Don't Buy It

48" x 48", Oil on Canvas

Sometimes we get so busy making our own lives comfortable that we stop looking at what it costs. A small convenience here, a little excess there. It doesn’t feel like much in the moment. Just another drink, another purchase, another shortcut. But somewhere beyond the edge of that comfort, something is slowly being used up.

The strange part is that we often know it. We see the signs, we hear the warnings, we smell the smoke in the air. Yet life is pleasant enough right now that it’s easy to keep floating along.

The future always feels far away when the present is comfortable.
